Poolside in Prince George

by Calder Clark on May 23rd, 2009

In our humble opinion, the wonderful little fetes surrounding the “grand jour”  get little (though much-deserved) attention. We hereby vow to highlight and blog about the light dinners, oyster roasts, high teas, bridesmaids’ luncheons, brunches, and leisurely little gatherings that make the destination wedding an actual weekend! Pinky swear.

One such evening is pictured below: Juliet and John Chobanian’s poolside island-themed dinner, replete with papaya-and-grass-green color scheme at the private Prince George Beach Club in Pawleys Island, SC. A peek at the custom Caribbean menu we designed with Cru Catering as a “reveal” of their honeymoon destination:

Passed hors d’oeuvres:

Manchego Lollipops with Quince Puree
Rock Shrimp Tempura on Crostini with Orange-Chile Glaze
Adobe Pork on Wonton Crisp with Honey-Chipotle Salsa

Hungry yet? Their four course dinner made for a tropical welcome:

Chilled Avocado Soup topped with Jumbo Lump Crabmeat, served in a Hollowed-Out Coconut Shell
Lobster Tomato Tower
Dark Rum-Marinated Seared Lamb with Boniato Gratin
Toasted Coconut and Pineapple Upside Down Cake topped with Crispy Chocolate Plantain
