Happy One Year + One Day

by Calder Clark on October 12th, 2009

Happy anniversary to Lucy and James Doswell, whose gorgeous wedding ceremony at First Scots Presbyterian was followed by a kick-up-your-heels reception at Yeamans Hall. Hard to keep toes from tappin’ when Party On the Moon is playing! Congratulations to you two!

Dear Dolma, We Heart Thee

by Calder Clark on October 9th, 2009

Our brides are always inquiring about resources for lovely trinkets and baubles not only for their bridesmaids’ gifts, but for their own wedding weekend accessorizing. If Grandma’s pearls aren’t your “thang”, hightail it to Dolma. Below are snippets from their trousseau-worthy collections, which are available online. Dolma is also represented locally by one of our fantastic interns- Katye Rhett (katyerhett@gmail.com; 843.810.8808). Why not buzz Miss Rhett to set up a trunk show and high tea for your girls as a way to fête their friendship and role in your big day? Happy hunting!

The Hunt for Headgear

by Calder Clark on October 7th, 2009

No, sillies, not the stuff of orthodontia…but the pièce de résistance that many brides seek: a delicate fabric rosette clip, a glittery antique brooch-turned-comb, a feathery fascinator.

There is certainly something to be said about the simplicity and natural beauty of a single phalaenopsis bloom tucked into a side chignon. Yet outside of the hardy orchid, we shed a lone tear for the gardenia that browns too swiftly and the plethora of other bruise-able blooms who may not make it from pre-ceremony bubbly-drinking to the sparkler send-off.

For those on the constant quest for the perfect crowning item (with the exception of the tiara, which belongs in its proper place of burial: the dress-up trunk of childhood), we share these tidbits:
