Wedding Activity: Cornhole

by Calder Clark on January 6th, 2011

AKA “Baggo”, “Beanbag Toss”, “Holey Hole”, and “Tailgate Toss”, Cornhole is the perfect little activity to create tête-à-têtes at your wedding reception. The equipment is easy to buy or build and so fun to customize. You need play space of about 35 square feet, which you most often can find across the South at our lovely, grassy venues. The only other main ingredient? A willing group of high energy guests . . . ding!

We customized our boards to be one family pitted against the other- ie bride’s fam vs. groom’s fam, and had them painted to match the colors of the party. Love this in-action shot by Adrienne Page. We asked our floral designer to build walls of actual corn to divide the gaming area from the dinner – so tongue-in-cheek, I know.

We styled this activity down on the gravel lot at Lowndes Grove- you don’t have to be on grass! This time, we kept it simple (sans bride/groom family names). We covered our beanbags in the same fabric as the table linens (duh!)

Lest you think the bride and groom never get a “shot”? Our Megan and Mihir took a breather from dancing to pop down to the water to play.
