Fun Idea : Creative Response Board

by Calder Clark on June 6th, 2011

I’m always on the hunt for cool little ideas to entertain guests as they amble about our client’s receptions. There are a lot of contrived things out there, or even activities that seem great but end up being unrealistic (croquet anyone?)

For Emily and Monty, we capitalized on their artistic background and their guests’ willingness to play along. During the invitation reply set design process, we chose to leave their response cards blank (per traditional etiquette) and insert the word “creative” . . . so they said “The favour of a creative response is requested on or before the fifteenth of October.” Replies came pouring in the form of drawings, pictures, découpage, you name it. There were stick figures, sequins, safety pins, and quotes. It was a riot displaying them all on our Osborne & Little wallpapered board under cantaloupe grosgrain with nailhead detail.

Guests approached the board an ogled the responses as they sipped their Hot Cape Coddies . . . it made for a great ice breaker, and ofcourse a few hundred keepsake notes for their box of memories.
