Every wedding should have a few frills- lily-gilding moments that are phenomenal, focal, memorable, and “just because”. Most often, I find myself designing from the ground up in a vast and empty tent in the middle of nowhere- the ideal blank slate. One of the most powerful ways to draw guests into an inviting atmosphere is to design with the axial view in mind- a visual “wow” moment that doubles as a conversational ice breaker. Wherever you roam- town or country, domestic or abroad- keep your eye peeled for a crumbling verdigris facade, a lush trellis, a copper-covered cupola . . . then let those memories influence the design of your big day.
