Hot Off the Press
Such a treat to see our little cottage pop up again in Southern Living, a.k.a. the entertaining “bible” of the South. In case you didn’t get a peek last Fall, here ’tis in a revamped format. Talk about getting inspired + geared up for the holidays . . . this puts me *this* much closer to being ready for carols!
The inside scoop is that shoots like this are a labor of love. It took an army of talented people (like Laurey Glenn) to make our little bungalow pop. Stylist Matthew Gleason was on hand to lily-gild with his incredible team, as were all of my amazing girls to do weird things like break all the glass out of our lanterns so they wouldn’t cause glare for certain photos- eep! Cru Catering stepped up to the plate as always, because Chef John Zucker’s middle name is clearly “Generosity”. Neighbors stopped by for weeks asking if we really are the type of family to put our decorations out that early (ie September) – even though we’ve been here for over a decade and clearly never get them up before December 1- at best. Hilarious!
I only share the above because I’m like a turtle on a post. The astounding response to this shoot was a gentle reminder for me to reflect on just that- I didn’t get “here” by myself, wherever “here” really is or whatever that really means. Lots of people put me up on this post of entertaining, styling, designing, + planning- and I’m very thankful for the helping hands along the way, as well as for my relationship with Southern Living + its sister magazine Southern Weddings. I hope you’ll keep allowing me to grow, learn, decorate, and dream.
